Member Scores in CQ WPX

Mark, W2MFT, reports that the "claimed scores before log checking" list just posted for the CQ WPX SSB 2010 contest shows him in the 8th position in North America QRP SOAB. He does mention that QRP with a vertical and 40m delta loop is NOT an exercise in dominant run operating!

The CW version of this contest is May 27 and 28. NEXT WEEKEND! The rules are posted at http://www.cqwpx.com/rules.htm

Brags from June 2009 VHF

From Dave, N2RHL: I just woke up to some snail mail, one from the ARRL. A certificate from the 2009 June VHF contest for first place single operator, low power for WESTERN NEW YORK 144MHz. Looks like I have a title to defend in a few weeks.

And from K2QO/R, the postman was just as responsive. First place Atlantic Division Rover.

Club Members: QST and CQ Results!

With the big contest season quickly approaching, here are some notable results from last season. First up is K2ZR (affectionately know as the cZaR) who posted the following:

1st Place Single Operator QRP Phone Certificate for the ARRL SS Phone, WNY Section

Next up is a biggie. If you have ever been lucky enough to be a guest operator at W2FU (Jeff Ach's superstation), you know the dedication and drive required to be at the top of the world Multi operator standings. Just the routine maintenance alone is a full time job with 3 huge towers, an operating position for each band and miles of gigantic coax to feed the beast. And without further ado, W2FU has won:

1st Place CQWW CW M/S

WNYDXA members who helped pilot the effort are in bold:
K0SM, N2PP, N2ZN, N2CU, WB2ABD, K2DB. Great job guys!!

IOTA Contest

Pasted GraphicThis weekend marks the annual running of the RSGB Islands on the Air contest. For full details, click the image. Band conditions always seem to “improve” for major contests. There has been some nice E-Skip on 10M lately so this may be a good weekend to bag some new ones on a band that has been fairly dead for the past few years. Good luck!
